Updated Prescription Policy—Effective 06/2026

Our goal is always to help your pets live a happier and healthier life. We make every effort to keep the cost of our medications comparable to outside pharmacies to help you keep your pet healthy in a more affordable manner. Many of the products we sell in the clinic come with an incentive from the manufacturer (i.e. online rebates) which makes them very close in price to the big box, online pharmacies. We fully realize the expense involved in caring for your pet and we hope we are able to help you make better and more informed decisions regarding your pet’s health.

It has always been our practice to provide clients with a written prescription upon request provided the medication is appropriate for your pet’s condition. Per Georgia pharmacy law, a bonafide doctor-patient relationship must be established and maintained in order for a prescription to be issued to your pet. We will continue to provide written prescriptions for your pet’s medication free of charge; however, if the first prescription is lost, misplaced, damaged, or otherwise needs to be rewritten, the fee for a replacement written prescription will be $10.00, which must be paid prior to a new prescription being issued.

Also, as a reminder, our hospital DOES NOT respond to fax or phone prescription authorizations to any of the online pharmaceutical warehouses (i.e. Chewy.com, 800 Petmeds, etc). If you wish to use one of these sources for your pet’s medication, we will provide you with a hand-written prescription which you can submit to the pharmacy of your choice. Most of these big box pharmacies will require you to physically mail in the hard copy of the prescription.

Due to the time involved and our focus on patient care, written prescriptions may take up to 48 business hours to be available for pick-up. While we will strive to get them written and signed as quickly as possible, please be aware your prescription will not be available until we text you that it is ready for pick-up. We strongly encourage you to call 2 business days prior to needing your pet’s medications.

If you wish to use a veterinary product which is not stocked in our on-site pharmacy but still have peace of mind to know that your pet’s health is not at risk, we are able to send you a link to our own online pharmacy, BlueRabbit. The medications purchased through BlueRabbit come directly from the manufacturer, are considered purchased through a veterinary chain, and are guaranteed by the manufacturer. For this reason, we are able to submit your prescription electronically and you will not have to pick up a hand-written prescription.
As always, please feel free to call us with any questions or concerns. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to continuing to help you take wonderful care of your furry family members.
